1. INTRODUCTION
---------------
  TMUSB is a USB device driver for EPSON TM/EU/BA printers.
  In general way, device driver installation is done by device wizard 
  manner and methods. But this setup utility supports a silent installation.


2. ENVIRONMENT
--------------
2.1 Support OS
  + Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition
  + Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 4
  + Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 1

  NOTE:
  + Windows 98 Second Edition doesn't support USB 2.0 High speed mode
    connection.
  + TMUSB doesn't support Intel hyper sledding technology. So please
    disable hyper sledding technology by BIOS settings.

2.2 Support USB Host controllers
  + Intel USB Host controller which is build in a chip set.
  + NEC EHCI USB Host controller

  NOTE:
  + TMUSB doesn't support NEC OHCI host controller.

2.3 Support USB driver stacks
  + Microsoft USB driver stack which is included in OS.
  + TMUSB doesn't support any third party driver stacks.

  NOTE:
  + Please use the latest version of Microsoft USB driver stack.

  + Please check the driver stack version when printer is connected by 
    USB 2.0 High speed connection. (usbehci.sys)

        version 5.00.2195.6709 and later

      Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 1
        version 5.1.2600.1243 and later

  NOTE:
    How to update Microsoft USB driver stack.
      1) Connect your pc to the internet
      2) Double click the system applet in control panel
      3) Click the hardware tab
      4) Press a device manager button
      5) Select USB controller
      6) Double click the 'XXX USB Enhanced Host Controller' item
      7) Press a Update Driver button within driver tab.

  NOTE:
    How to check the version of driver stack (usbehci.sys).
      1-1) Double click the 'XXX USB Enhanced Host Controller' item within
           device manager
      1-2) Press a Driver Details button within driver tab.

    or

      2-1) Select a file of usbehci.sys which is exists in windows system
           directory system32\drivers\usbehci.sys. And click the right button
           of mouse.
      2-2) Select property tab and confirm the version information.


2.4 Support printers
  EPSON TM/EU/BA printers

2.5 Support USB connection
  Max cable length     : 5 meter
  Max stage of USB hub : 5 stages
  NOTE:
    Need to use cable and hub which are comply with USB 2.0 specification.

2.6 Support connection of printers
  Max printers for OPOS/JPOS   : 10 units
  Max printers for APD         :  8 units
  Max printers for Other tools :  8 units

4. HOW TO INSTALL TMUSB DEVICE DRIVER
-------------------------------------
  You must login as an administrator when you uses Windows 2000/XP.

4.1 Standard installation

  1) Power on the printer which is connected by USB cable.
  2) The "Add New Hardware Wizard" should automatically start.
  3) Select a check box "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)"
  4) Select "Search for a suitable driver..." and specify the location of folder
     for your OS.
  5) If "Digital Signature Not Found" warning will appear, Click
     "Continue Anyway" to continue.
  6) Press Finish button to close.


4.2 Updating a device driver

  1) Power off all printers which are connected to the system by USB cable.
  2) Execute a setup program (SETUP.EXE)
  3) Power on the printer.


4.3 Silent installation

  You need to execute a setup program before connecting a printer to your PC.

  1) Execute a setup program (SETUP.EXE).

      Setup program copies both INF file and SYS file to the system.
      Setup program return a result of installation.
      You can refer the result by ERRORLEVEL variable.
        0    : Succeeded
        2    : Installation files are not found.
        1151 : Not supported OS.

  2) Device driver should be installed when printer is powered on.

4.4 Options for TMUSBSetup

  -s1 Silent instillation
     Force Install the specified version of TMUSB even though a newer
     version is installed.
  -s2 Silent installation
     Don't install the specified version of TMUSB when a newer version
     is installed already.
  -s3 Silent installation (ask user)
     Ask user when a newer version of TMUSB is installed.
  -w1 No install window
     Don't show the blue install windows


5. RESTRICTION
--------------
  + You have to login as an administrator (windows 2000/XP).
  + You need to close all applications which uses TMUSB device driver before
    executing a setup program.
  + Don't power off the printer or disconnect the USB cable while printer is
    printing.
  + You need to restart windows or power off a printer and power on to let
    system recognize a new device driver is installed.
  + You need wait 5 seconds to power on after printer's power is off.
    This time is need to unload a device driver certainly.
  + When you login as an guest, system reports no driver's signature.
    (Under Windows 2000 environment) 

 * If you uses this setup program, You need a higher version of Internet
    Explorer version 4.0.
